Effectiveness of a motivational interviewing intervention on weight loss, physical activity and cardiovascular disease risk factors: a randomised controlled trial with a 12-month post-intervention follow-up
Overview
This randomized controlled trial evaluates the long-term effectiveness of a six-month motivational interviewing intervention on cardiovascular disease risk factors in UK primary care patients. The study compares standard exercise and nutrition information alone against the same information supplemented with up to five face-to-face MI sessions delivered by specialists. Outcomes measured at 12 months post-intervention include behavioral changes such as walking and dietary intake, as well as biomedical markers like weight, BMI, blood pressure, and cholesterol.
