Treatment of Chronic Pain for Adults 65 and Over: Analyses of Outcomes and Changes in Psychological Flexibility Following Interdisciplinary Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Overview
This paper analyzes outcomes and psychological flexibility changes in 60 adults aged 65 and over with chronic pain following an interdisciplinary Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) program. The study reports significant improvements in functioning, mental health, and pain acceptance immediately after treatment, though follow-up gains were not statistically significant. It further examines the association between shifts in psychological flexibility processes and improvements in social functioning and mental health.
