Effectiveness of a Digital Cognitive Behavior Therapy–Guided Self-Help Intervention for Eating Disorders in College Women
Overview
This cluster randomized trial evaluated a digital CBT-guided self-help intervention for college women with binge-purge eating disorders across 27 US universities. The study compared outcomes of 690 participants receiving the coached program against those referred to usual care, tracking changes in ED psychopathology and behavioral abstinence over two years. Results indicated significantly greater reductions in overall ED psychopathology for the intervention group at post-intervention and follow-up, though no significant differences were found in abstinence from specific eating disorder behaviors.
