Compassion Focused Psychosexual Therapy for Women Who Experience Pain during Sex
Overview
This paper describes a pilot study investigating the application of Compassion Focused Therapy techniques to an existing psychosexual therapy group for women with Genito-Pelvic Pain Penetration Disorder. The uncontrolled, unpowered evaluation measured outcomes in a routine clinical setting, reporting improvements in self-confidence, pain frequency and intensity, and sexual distress among participants. The authors suggest that these encouraging results warrant further investigation through larger, controlled trials.
