Transition Needs Compassion: a Thematic Analysis of an Online Compassion-Focused Therapy Group in a Gender Service
Overview
This study explores the experiences of six transgender individuals who participated in an online, eight-week Compassion-Focused Therapy group within a gender service. Through thematic analysis of semi-structured interviews, the authors identify themes related to stigma, self-criticism, and the challenges and benefits of peer interaction in a digital setting. The resource is intended for researchers or clinicians interested in qualitative data regarding the feasibility and acceptability of this therapeutic approach for transgender and gender non-conforming populations.
