Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy in Advanced Prostate Cancer: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Overview
This randomized controlled trial evaluates the efficacy of an 8-week, telephone-delivered mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) program for reducing psychological distress in men with advanced prostate cancer. The study compares the intervention group against a minimally enhanced usual care control group, measuring outcomes such as cancer-specific distress and prostate-specific antigen anxiety at baseline and over nine months. Results indicate that MBCT was not more effective than usual care in reducing distress, although participants did show increased mindfulness skills related to observing. The resource is intended for researchers and clinicians interested in psychosocial interventions for advanced cancer populations.
