The Effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy on Resilience, Meaning in Life, and Family Function in Family Caregivers of Patients With Schizophrenia
Overview
This quasi-experimental study examines the impact of eight weekly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) sessions on resilience, meaning in life, and family functioning among 30 family caregivers of patients with schizophrenia in Iran. The research compares an experimental group receiving ACT against a control group with no treatment, assessing outcomes at pretest, posttest, and one-month follow-up intervals. The authors report significant improvements in meaning in life and family functioning for the ACT group, alongside immediate gains in resilience that did not persist at follow-up.
