Clients’ Facial Expressions of Self-Compassion, Self-Criticism, and Self-Protection in Emotion-Focused Therapy Videos
Overview
This study analyzes facial Action Units in Emotion-Focused Therapy videos to distinguish between clients' expressions of self-compassion, self-criticism, and self-protection. The research utilizes iMotions software on twelve video sessions to identify specific muscle movements associated with each emotional state. It highlights the importance of differentiating self-compassion from self-protection based on these facial indicators.
