Addressing health inequities in treating neuropathic pain: a scoping review of cognitive behavioral therapies, mindfulness, and meditation-based interventions
Overview
This scoping review examines cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and meditation-based interventions for neuropathic pain, focusing on their characteristics, outcomes, and representation of populations facing health inequities. The analysis of 24 studies indicates that while these therapies show promise for symptom relief, participants from inequity-affected groups are largely unrepresented due to poor demographic reporting and limited diversity. The authors note that although some interventions were tailored for long-term practice, there is a general lack of inclusion strategies and long-term follow-up data in current research.
