Changes in Trauma‐Related Emotions Following Treatment With Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder After Childhood Abuse
Overview
This study examines changes in trauma-related emotions and radical acceptance among individuals with PTSD following childhood abuse who completed a three-month residential DBT-PTSD program. The research compares pre- and post-treatment data from 42 participants against a nonclinical reference group to assess whether improvements persist after controlling for core PTSD symptom reduction. Results indicate significant improvements in emotions such as guilt, shame, and fear, with varying proportions of participants reaching nonclinical levels by the end of treatment.
