Cessation of Deliberate Self-Harm Behavior in Patients With Borderline Personality Traits Treated With Outpatient Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Overview
This study examines the timeline for cessation of deliberate self-harm among 46 patients with borderline symptoms completing an outpatient dialectical behavior therapy program. Researchers compared early and late responders to determine if demographics, comorbidity, or symptom severity influenced the timing of behavioral change. The findings indicate that most participants stopped self-harming within the first year, with no significant differences observed between those who ceased early versus late.
