Social Media Support Groups for Youth Nicotine Vaping Cessation: An RCT
Overview
This randomized controlled trial evaluates the efficacy of Instagram-based direct message support groups for youth nicotine vaping cessation, comparing them to standard state quitline referrals. The study involved 500 participants aged 13–21 and measured abstinence rates at baseline, five weeks, and six months post-intervention. Results indicate that the social media intervention group achieved significantly higher abstinence rates than the control group over the six-month period.
