Establishing the Feasibility of Group Metacognitive Therapy for Anxiety and Depression in Cardiac Rehabilitation: A Single-Blind Randomized Pilot Study
Overview
This single-blind randomized pilot study evaluates the feasibility and acceptability of adding group metacognitive therapy (MCT) to standard cardiac rehabilitation for patients with anxiety and depression. The research, conducted across three UK NHS Trusts, assessed outcomes such as recruitment rates, participant retention, session attendance, and protocol adherence by non-specialists. The findings indicate that integrating MCT is feasible and does not negatively impact retention, supporting the need for a larger-scale trial.
