Spiritually Integrated Cognitive Processing Therapy: A New Treatment for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder That Targets Moral Injury
Overview
This paper introduces Spiritually Integrated Cognitive Processing Therapy (SICPT), an adaptation of CPT designed to address moral injury in PTSD by incorporating clients' spiritual beliefs and practices. The authors describe the 12-session manualized approach, including five religion-specific versions for Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism, alongside a general spiritual option. A case study is provided to illustrate how therapists can help clients utilize these resources for recovery.
