Schema Therapy for Personality Disorders: a Qualitative Study of Patients’ and Therapists’ Perspectives
Overview
This qualitative study explores patient and therapist perspectives on schema therapy for personality disorders through interviews and focus groups. Participants identified the therapeutic relationship, clear theoretical model, and specific techniques as helpful, while noting issues such as insufficient session duration, lack of advance information regarding emotional intensity, and challenges with imagery work. The findings suggest that these user experiences should inform protocol adjustments and implementation strategies.
