Mediators of acceptance and mindfulness-based therapies for anxiety and depression: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Overview
This systematic review and meta-analysis synthesizes data from 30 independent trials to examine the indirect effects of mindful attention, decentering, and acceptance on anxiety and depression outcomes. The authors report a small to medium pooled mediating effect across these putative mediators but note that results vary significantly depending on whether correlation-based or causal time-lag analyses are used. The resource is intended for researchers and clinicians interested in the theoretical mechanisms underlying acceptance and mindfulness-based therapies.
