The temporal relationships between therapist adherence and patient outcomes in dialectical behavior therapy.
Overview
This study examines the temporal relationship between therapist adherence to Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and patient outcomes using data from six clinical trials. It analyzes bidirectional effects on metrics such as suicide attempts, self-injury, dropout rates, and hospitalizations across 288 patients treated by 83 therapists. The findings suggest that adherence improves key outcomes and retention, with the relationship moderated by patient population severity.
