A mixed methods pilot feasibility study of the unified protocol group psychotherapy for early bipolar disorder
Overview
This pilot study evaluates the feasibility and acceptability of delivering The Unified Protocol in a group format to nine individuals with early bipolar disorder. It combines quantitative measures showing improvements in affective lability and functioning with qualitative interviews highlighting participant appreciation for peer support and structured skills practice. The authors suggest potential adaptations, such as increased session duration and customized exposure exercises, to better address bipolar-specific challenges.
