Randomized controlled trial of emotion regulation therapy versus cognitive behavioral therapy to address distress in cancer caregivers
Overview
This randomized controlled trial compares Emotion Regulation Therapy for caregivers (ERT-C) against caregiver-adapted Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT-C) to address distress in cancer caregivers. The study analyzed outcomes from 244 caregivers and 87 patients, finding no significant superiority of ERT-C over CBT-C in reducing caregiver anxiety, depression, or burden. Both groups showed significant improvements in psychosocial well-being over time, while patient outcomes varied but did not persist after statistical adjustments.
