Comparing the efficacy of mindfulness-based relapse prevention versus relapse prevention for alcohol use disorder: A randomized control trial
Overview
This randomized controlled trial compares the efficacy of mindfulness-based relapse prevention (MBRP) and standard relapse prevention (RP) for reducing alcohol consumption among 182 individuals. The study evaluates primary outcomes such as heavy drinking days and drinks per day, while also examining how sex and cannabis use frequency moderate treatment effects. Results indicate that while both groups showed initial decreases in drinking, MBRP participants maintained lower heavy drinking days post-treatment compared to RP participants, with cannabis use significantly influencing these outcomes.
