Pilot study of a brief dialectical behavior therapy skills group for jail inmates.
Overview
This pilot study evaluates the feasibility and acceptability of an 8-week dialectical behavior therapy skills group for male jail inmates in a short-term correctional setting. The research reports on participant retention, noting that attrition was largely due to transfers, and presents preliminary findings suggesting potential improvements in coping skills and reduced externalization of blame. The resource is intended for researchers or clinicians interested in adapting DBT protocols for general population inmates in brief incarceration contexts.
