Effectiveness of an individual acceptance and commitment therapy for smoking cessation, delivered face-to-face and by telephone to adults recruited in primary health care settings: a randomized controlled trial
Overview
This randomized controlled trial evaluates an individual Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) program for smoking cessation among adults in primary health care settings. The study compares a group receiving face-to-face and telephone ACT sessions against a control group receiving only self-help materials, measuring outcomes such as abstinence rates and psychological flexibility. Results indicate no significant difference in 12-month quit rates between groups, though the intervention group showed greater improvements in readiness to quit and psychological flexibility.
