Acceptance and commitment therapy for patients with chronic pain: A systematic review and meta-analysis on psychological outcomes and quality of life
Overview
This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluates the efficacy of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) for patients with chronic pain by synthesizing data from twenty-one randomized controlled trials. The study reports effect sizes for various psychological outcomes, including pain interference, depression, and quality of life, at both post-treatment and three-month follow-up intervals. The authors suggest that clinicians and nurses may incorporate ACT into routine interventions to improve patient outcomes.
