Randomized controlled trial of acceptance and commitment therapy for distress and impairment in OEF/OIF/OND veterans.
Overview
This randomized controlled trial evaluates the efficacy of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) compared to present-centered therapy for emotional distress in veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. The study measures outcomes such as general distress, functioning, insomnia, and treatment satisfaction across pre-treatment, post-treatment, and follow-up periods. Results indicate that while both interventions led to significant improvements, ACT did not outperform the comparison condition on primary outcomes, though it showed greater benefit for insomnia.
