Effects of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy on Specificity of Life Goals
Overview
This study examined the immediate effects of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) on goal specificity among chronically depressed individuals with a history of suicidality. Participants randomized to MBCT reported more specific future goals and greater confidence in achieving them compared to those in a waitlist condition. The findings suggest that MBCT may help clarify important goals and enhance perceived capacity for valued life directions.
