Systematic review of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in suicide prevention in adults. Current perspective
Overview
This systematic review evaluates the efficacy of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for reducing suicidal behaviors in adults, analyzing seven studies published between 2013 and March 2024. The authors report that ACT is associated with significant reductions in suicidal behavior and increased psychological flexibility, with some evidence suggesting it may be comparable or superior to other interventions. The resource concludes that while results are promising, further research with larger sample sizes and long-term follow-up is required to confirm long-term efficacy.
