A Randomized Clinical Trial Comparing Individual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Child-Centered Therapy for Child Anxiety Disorders
Overview
This randomized clinical trial compares individual cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with child-centered therapy (CCT) for treating anxiety disorders in youth aged 9 to 14. The study evaluates treatment response, recovery rates at post-treatment and one-year follow-up, and daily emotional functioning using ecological momentary assessment. Results indicate that while both therapies show benefit, CBT is associated with higher full recovery rates and lower negative emotions during the later stages of treatment compared to CCT.
