Efficacy of App-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Body Dysmorphic Disorder with Coach Support: Initial Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial
Overview
This randomized controlled trial evaluates the efficacy of a coach-supported app-based cognitive behavioral therapy program called Perspectives for adults with body dysmorphic disorder. The study compares 12 weeks of this intervention against a waitlist control, measuring outcomes such as symptom severity, insight, depression, and quality of life using blinded evaluators. Results indicate that participants in the app-based CBT group experienced significantly greater reductions in BDD severity and improvements in secondary measures compared to the waitlist group.
