A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Adolescents With Body Dysmorphic Disorder
Overview
This pilot randomized controlled trial evaluates an age-appropriate cognitive-behavioral therapy protocol for adolescents aged 12 to 18 with body dysmorphic disorder. The study compares the CBT intervention against a control condition of psycho-education and monitoring, assessing outcomes through blinded evaluations at multiple time points. Results indicate that the CBT group demonstrated significantly greater improvement in symptoms, insight, and quality of life compared to the control group, with high acceptability reported by participants and families.
