Randomized Controlled Trial of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Delivered to Human Immunodeficiency Virus–Positive Patients in Iran
Overview
This randomized controlled trial evaluates the immediate and long-term effects of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) on biological and symptomatological markers in HIV-positive patients in Iran. The study compares an 8-week MBSR program against a brief education and support condition, measuring outcomes such as CD4 counts and self-reported symptoms over twelve months. Results indicate that MBSR participants showed improvements in medical symptoms lasting up to one year, while CD4 count increases were observed only up to nine months post-treatment.
