Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Urban Youth
Overview
This study evaluates the acceptability and potential effects of an eight-week mindfulness-based stress reduction program for HIV-infected and at-risk urban youth aged 13–21. The mixed-methods analysis reports significant reductions in hostility and discomfort among completers, alongside qualitative feedback on improved relationships and school achievement. However, the authors note that the small sample size and lack of a control group prevent distinguishing MBSR effects from nonspecific group influences.
