Reducing anxiety and depression in Chinese adolescents through group behavioral activation: a pilot study with school-based implementation
Overview
This pilot study evaluates the efficacy of Group Behavioral Activation Therapy (GBAT) as a school-based intervention for reducing anxiety and depressive symptoms among Chinese adolescents aged 12–17. The quasi-experimental trial compared a group receiving eight weekly sessions to a waitlist control, measuring outcomes using standardized scales for anxiety and depression at baseline, post-intervention, and three-month follow-up. Results indicate that participants in the GBAT group experienced significant reductions in symptoms with moderate to large effect sizes that were maintained over time.
