Acceptance and Commitment Training Focused on Psychological Flexibility for Family Members of Children with Intellectual Disabilities
Overview
This paper evaluates a six-session Acceptance and Commitment Therapy program designed to enhance psychological flexibility among 36 family members of children with intellectual disabilities. The study measures changes in parental psychological flexibility, perceived stress, psychological health, and thought suppression at pre-treatment, post-treatment, and two-month follow-up intervals. Results indicate reductions in inflexibility and stress alongside improvements in well-being and positive family interactions.
