A meta-analysis of motivational interviewing process: Technical, relational, and conditional process models of change.
Overview
This meta-analysis evaluates the technical and relational hypotheses of Motivational Interviewing efficacy using data from 36 primary studies involving over 3,000 participants. The authors examine how therapist MI-consistent skills correlate with client change talk and sustain talk, as well as subsequent changes in risk behaviors like alcohol and drug use. The resource is intended for researchers and clinicians interested in the statistical relationships between MI techniques and behavioral outcomes.
