The language of motivational interviewing and feedback: Counselor language, client language, and client drinking outcomes.
Overview
This study examines how counselor language and personalized feedback influence client speech patterns and subsequent drinking outcomes among heavy-drinking college students. It analyzes the associations between MI-consistent counseling, client change talk, sustain talk, and a composite measure of alcohol consumption at three months. The resource is relevant to researchers or clinicians interested in the mechanisms linking motivational interviewing skills to behavioral change.
