Harnessing Context Sensing to Develop a Mobile Intervention for Depression
Overview
This paper describes the development and pilot testing of Mobilyze!, a mobile intervention for major depressive disorder that uses context sensing and ecological momentary interventions. The study evaluated technical feasibility, predictive accuracy of machine learning models based on phone sensors, and patient satisfaction in a small group of eight adults. Results indicated high participant satisfaction and significant self-reported improvements in depressive symptoms, though the predictive capability for mood states was noted as poor.
