Treating anxiety and depression of cancer survivors: Behavioral activation versus acceptance and commitment therapy
Overview
This study compares the efficacy of group-based behavioral activation (BA) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) for managing anxiety and depression in 52 cancer survivors. The research evaluates pre-post treatment changes in emotional state and avoidance patterns across BA, ACT, and a waiting list control groups. Results indicate that both therapies are superior to no treatment, with ACT showing significant advantages over BA regarding social impairment and avoidance/rumination.
