Caring for the caregivers: Evaluation of the effect of an eight-week pilot mindful self-compassion (MSC) training program on nurses’ compassion fatigue and resilience
Overview
This pilot study evaluates an eight-week Mindful Self-Compassion training program for nurses, focusing on its impact on compassion fatigue and resilience. The research utilizes a mixed-methods design with 13 participants to assess changes in self-compassion, mindfulness, burnout, and other psychological metrics before and after the intervention. It reports significant declines in secondary trauma and burnout alongside increases in resilience and compassion satisfaction, supported by qualitative feedback from the nurses.
