A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis Examining the Effect of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction on Pain Severity and Quality of Life in People Living With Fibromyalgia
Overview
This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluates the impact of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction on pain severity, quality of life, pain catastrophizing, and depression in individuals with fibromyalgia. The authors analyzed data from 11 trials involving 1,153 participants to compare MBSR against no treatment, usual care, or active controls. Results indicate that MBSR offers small positive effects on quality of life and pain catastrophizing at both short and long-term follow-ups compared to active controls. However, the review found no significant reduction in pain severity versus active control, updating previous guidance from 2013.
