A Randomised Controlled Trial of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy for Generalised Anxiety Disorder
Overview
This randomized controlled trial compares the efficacy of group acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) versus group cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for individuals with generalized anxiety disorder. The study assessed fifty-one participants across pre-treatment, post-treatment, and three-month follow-up intervals using symptom and quality of life measures. Results indicate that both interventions produced significant improvements, with ACT showing a steeper initial reduction in worrying symptoms while CBT demonstrated continued improvement during the follow-up period.
