Network changes associated with transdiagnostic depressive symptom improvement following cognitive behavioral therapy in MDD and PTSD
Overview
This study uses graph theory and network science to examine transdiagnostic neural mechanisms underlying depressive symptom improvement after cognitive behavioral therapy in patients with major depressive disorder or PTSD. The research analyzes longitudinal fMRI data from 33 patients and 31 healthy controls to identify changes in brain network connectivity associated with reduced depression severity. Findings suggest that increased segregation of the Ventral Attention system following treatment may facilitate improved cognitive control by reducing emotional attention's influence on cognitive processes.
