Neural predictors of treatment outcome through emotion regulation in internalizing disorders: a narrative review
Overview
This narrative review summarizes functional magnetic resonance imaging studies investigating how neural activity during explicit and implicit emotion regulation predicts treatment outcomes for internalizing disorders. It highlights that baseline prefrontal cortex activity often serves as a predictor, with directionality varying between explicit reappraisal tasks and implicit interference tasks. The resource is intended for researchers or clinicians interested in the neurobiological mechanisms underlying treatment response heterogeneity.
