Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Parents Implementing Early Intervention for Autism: An RCT
Overview
This randomized controlled trial examines the effects of adding Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction to parent-implemented Early Start Denver Model therapy for caregivers of young children with autism. The study measures changes in parental stress, anxiety, depression, and mindfulness levels during treatment and at follow-up intervals. It reports that while both groups showed improvements in general distress, the addition of MBSR led to greater reductions in specific areas like parental distress and parent-child dysfunctional interactions.
