Mediators of change in online acceptance and commitment therapy for psychological symptoms of parents of children with chronic conditions: An investigation of change processes
Overview
This study investigates the mechanisms of change in an online Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) intervention for parents of children with chronic conditions. The authors report that cognitive defusion and acting with awareness mediated improvements in psychological symptoms, whereas general psychological flexibility did not. The resource is relevant to clinicians and researchers interested in the specific processes underlying digital mental health interventions.
