Comparative effectiveness of digital versus face-to-face cognitive behavioral therapy for alcohol use disorder: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Overview
This systematic review and meta-analysis compares the effectiveness of digital versus face-to-face cognitive behavioral therapy for adults with alcohol use disorder, analyzing data from 25 randomized controlled trials. The authors report that while both modalities significantly reduced drinking frequency, face-to-face therapy demonstrated a stronger effect size than digital interventions. For drinking quantity, digital CBT showed a significant pre-post effect, whereas face-to-face CBT did not show an overall significant effect in the primary analysis.
