A systematic review of digital and face-to-face cognitive behavioral therapy for depression
Overview
This systematic review and meta-analysis compares the clinical effectiveness of face-to-face versus digital cognitive behavioral therapy for major depression across 106 studies involving over 11,000 patients. The authors report that while initial analyses favored face-to-face CBT in symptom reduction and adherence, adjusting for confounding variables revealed comparable effectiveness between the two modalities. The resource highlights intervention duration, baseline severity, adherence, and human guidance as significant moderators of clinical outcomes.
