Gaining the courage to see and accept oneself: Group-based compassion-focussed therapy as experienced by adolescent girls
Overview
This qualitative study explores the lived experiences of six adolescent girls aged 15 to 17 who participated in group-based compassion-focused therapy (CFT) at a Swedish outpatient clinic. Through reflective lifeworld interviews, the authors describe how the intervention helped participants gain courage to accept themselves and find belonging among peers with similar struggles. The resource highlights themes of reduced shame, normalized emotional difficulties, and increased willingness to engage in everyday life and seek help.
