“And I Can Remind Myself That I Am All Of This”: adolescents’ experiences of group-based acceptance and commitment therapy
Overview
This qualitative study explores the subjective experiences of seven adolescents aged 16–19 who completed a group-based Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) program for anxiety and depression symptoms. Participants reported varied perceptions of ACT’s core processes, with some finding them meaningful while others viewed them as irrelevant or provocative. The group format was generally seen as supportive and motivating, though it also triggered social anxiety and self-censoring for some individuals.
