A Qualitative Exploration of the Process and Experience of Change in Moving on in My Recovery: An Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Based Recovery Group for Substance Use Disorder
Overview
This qualitative study explores the change processes experienced by ten individuals who completed the Moving on in My Recovery (MOIMR) group intervention for substance use disorder. Using grounded theory, the authors identify a core process of approaching emotional vulnerability while pursuing values-aligned activities, facilitated by group safety and shared lived experience. The resource describes how participants gradually developed acceptance and value-guided action, with many attending the program multiple times to deepen their understanding.
