Effectiveness of compassion‐focused therapy for self‐criticism in patients with personality disorders: a multiple baseline case series study
Overview
This multiple baseline case series study investigates whether adding a 12-week group compassion-focused therapy (CFT) targeting self-criticism to standard treatment improves outcomes for patients with personality disorders. The research involved twelve participants, with nine completing the intervention, and measured changes in self-critical beliefs, self-compassion, and disorder severity during baseline, treatment, and follow-up phases. Results indicated a significant decrease in self-critical beliefs at follow-up compared to baseline, alongside reliable improvements in self-reported criticism and self-compassion for most participants.
